Australia Approves Field Trials for GM Wheat and Barley

FEBRUARY 22, 2022

Australia's Office of the Gene Technology Regulator has authorised the University of Adelaide to conduct a field trial of genetically modified (GM) wheat and barley that have been modified for yield enhancement and improved abiotic stress tolerance. The aim of the field trial is to gather research and regulatory data under field conditions and will not be used in the production of human or animal feed. The licence will be valid between April 2022 and January 2027.
