Australia Receives Application for GM Sorghum Trials

JANUARY 6, 2022

Australia’s Office of the Gene Technology Regulator has received an application from the University of Queensland to conduct a field trial of sorghum varieties that have been genetically modified (GM) for asexual seed formation. The trials, scheduled to take place between September 2022 and June 2025, are to assess the agronomic characteristics, seed viability, gene persistence, yield and yield components and grain quality of the GM sorghum plants under field conditions.
