Bayer has reportedly reinstated its plan to introduce Bollgard II Roundup Ready Flex cotton seed in India, following a regulatory application to authorities. Monsanto, prior to its acquisition by Bayer, had previously sought to introduce the technology in the country, however this was withdrawn. At present, only insect resistant cotton varieties are sold in India, with Bollgard II Roundup Ready Flex representing the first GM herbicide tolerant cotton to be commercially offered.
