Bayer has reportedly delayed the launch of its Bollgard III RR Flex cotton technology in Brazil following disputes over Bayer’s patent protection regarding Bollgard II RR Flex. Bollgard III RR Flex technology, which confers insect resistance and glyphosate tolerance, was scheduled to be released for the 2019/20 season. Brazilian growers have also challenged the validity of Bayer’s Intacta RR2 PRO patent. The Bollgard III cotton trait was first introduced in Australia in 2017 and gained a full US launch in 2018.
