Bayer Gains Australia Approval for MON 88701 Cotton
NOVEMBER 17, 2020
Australia’s Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) has granted approval to Monsanto Australia, authorising the commercial release of cotton genetically modified for herbicide tolerance (MON 88701). The MON 88701 genetic event provides tolerance to the herbicides dicamba and glufosinate. Cotton from Mon 88701 and derived products will be able to enter general commerce, including use in food and animal feed. The decision follows consultation on the Risk Assessment and Risk Management Plan (RARMP) with the public, State and Territory governments, Australian Government agencies, the Minister for the Environment, the Gene Technology Technical Advisory Committee and local councils.
