Bayer Seeks Australia and New Zealand Approval for MON 94100 Canola

JANUARY 19, 2021

Bayer has submitted an application to Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) seeking approval for the sale and use of food derived from its genetically modified (GM), herbicide-tolerant canola MON 94100. The MON 94100 trait confers dicamba-tolerance through the dmo (dicamba mono-oxygenase) gene. FSANZ noted that canola containing the event MON 94100 is primarily used to produce oil which would be manufactured overseas and imported into Australia and New Zealand. Other processed foods such as canola meal may also potentially be imported.
