Bayer Seeks Australia and New Zealand Approval for MON 95379 Maize
SEPTEMBER 17, 2021
Bayer has submitted an application to Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) seeking approval for the sale and food use from its genetically modified (GM), insecticide-resistant maize MON 95479. The MON 93579 genetic event provides protection against specific lepidopteran pests via expression of Cry1B.868 and Cry1Da_7 genes. FSANZ noted that if approved food containing the MON 95379 gene could be imported into Australia and New Zealand in the form of starch, grits, meal, flour, oil and sweeteners.
