Benson Hill Biosystems has entered into a partnership with the Wisconsin-based hybrid maize seed breeding company Brownseed Genetics. Through the partnership, Brownseed will utilise Benson Hill’s technologies in predictive breeding and gene editing to broaden its hybrid maize portfolio to enable the cultivation of new Brownseed hybrids across the US Corn Belt. The new Brownseed hybrids, including the E+ hybrid, have been developed through conventional breeding methods and reportedly yield approximately 9% corn oil, three times as much corn oil than through normal production, and are rich in the amino acids lysine and methionine.
