Bioceres Crop Solutions and CWRF Enter Strategic Collaboration

SEPTEMBER 25, 2025

Bioceres Crop Solutions has formed a collaboration with the Colorado Wheat Research Foundation (CWRF) to develop and commercialise its proprietary drought-tolerant HB4 wheat in the US. Through the agreement, CWRF will gain exclusive, sublicensable rights to the HB4 trait in the US, facilitating access to HB4 technology for third-party breeding programmes and commercial channels and leading engagement with US stakeholders. Bioceres will continue to conduct all regulatory activities concerning the wheat, including securing approvals, establishing tolerance thresholds for potential risk assessments, and ensuring trait stewardship through certified seed systems and detection tools. The companies will also work with industry participants to develop, register, and commercialise new broad-spectrum herbicide formulations customised for the wheat. Bioceres received a Notice of Allowance for HB4 wheat from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) earlier this year (see AgbioNews Mar 6, 2025).
