Bioceres to Seek Australian Approval for HB4 Wheat

JUNE 24, 2022

Bioceres Crop Solutions has announced its plans to conduct field tests of its genetically modified drought resistant wheat in Australia, while seeking approval for cultivation in 2024. The company believes that rising prices due to production uncertainty surrounding the conflict in Ukraine as well as increased extreme weather events will lower consumer resistance to GM products. Australia approved the commercialisation of food products derived from Bioceres' GM wheat in May (see AgbioNews May 12, 2022).
