Calyxt High Oleic Soybean Areas to Double

JANUARY 23, 2019

Calyxt has announced that it has contracted over 34,000 acres of its High Oleic Soybean with more than 100 farmers in the upper Midwest region including South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. This represents double the 17,000 acres planted in 2018. Calyxt’s high-oleic soybean oil reportedly eliminates the need to be hydrogenated, a process that improves heat stability and shelf life of conventional soybean oil. Hydrogenation results in the generation of non-desirable trans-fatty acids in conventional soybean oil.
