Cibus Issued New Patent for Gene-Editing in Plants

Cibus has been granted a new patent related to increasing the efficiency of gene targeting in plants, further extending the company’s intellectual property portfolio of over 300 patents and applications to target and direct the natural gene-editing processes in plants. The new patent covers methods utilising Cibus’ Gene Repair Oligonucleotide (GRON) in combination with specialized enzymes called nucleases, such as a Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeat (CRISPR) nuclease or Transcription Activator-Like Effector Nuclease (TALEN).
