Corteva and 2Blades have announced reaching a milestone in the development of a transgene for Asian Soybean Rust (ASR) resistance in Latin American soybean varieties. Field trail results have reportedly shown strong disease resistance in the transgenic varieties tested. Lead genes from the collaboration will advance in Corteva’s development pipeline to allow further understanding. ASR is a crucial challenge to growers as it has the potential to cause yield loss from 10 – 80%, with genetic resistance considered to be an essential tool to mitigate risk to growers.
