Bayer has received a favourable review of its application to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) for an assessment of its genetically modified (GM) herbicide-tolerant canola genetic event MON 94100. The MON 94100 trait confers dicamba tolerance through the expression of the DMO (dicamba mono-oxygenase) gene. Bayer's MON 94100 canola was approved by Food Standards Australia New Zealand in July 2021, allowing the MON 94100 trait in canola to be imported into Australia and New Zealand for both food and feed uses. The trait has also received import approval in Canada, Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines.
