EFSA Publishes Risk Assessment of BASF’s GHB614 × T304-40 × GHB119 × COT102 Cotton

DECEMBER 5, 2025

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has published an assessment of BASF's genetically modified herbicide-tolerant, insect-resistant cotton GHB614 × T304-40 × GHB119 × COT102. The trait stack provides resistance to lepidopteran pests (Cry1Ab, Cry2Ae, Vip3Aa19) and tolerance to the herbicide active ingredients glufosinate ammonium (PAT/bar) and glyphosate (2mepsps). In its assessment, the EFSA's GMO panel identified no new concerns that would require modification of the original verdict regarding safety. Therefore, the panel concluded that cotton containing GHB614 × T304-40 × GHB119 × COT102 was as safe as its conventional counterpart with respect to potential effects on human and animal health and the environment, and no post-market monitoring of food/feed was deemed necessary.
