EFSA Publishes Risk Assessment of BASF's GM T25 Maize
AUGUST 8, 2025
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has published its assessment of BASF’s herbicide-tolerant genetically modified (GM) maize T25, which is currently undergoing renewal authorisation for food and feed uses, excluding cultivation, within the European Union. The ESFA’s GMO panel has concluded that there is no evidence in the renewal dossier for new hazards, modified exposure, or scientific uncertainties that would change the conclusions of the original risk assessment, provided that the DNA sequences of the events are identical to those previously assessed.
BASF's GM maize T25 expresses the PAT protein, which provides tolerance against glufosinate-containing herbicides.
