GM Monitor – GM Crop Approvals December 2025

DECEMBER 10, 2025

AgbioInvestor’s free-to-access service AgbioInvestor GM Monitor has identified the following GM trait approvals up to December 2025. Expanded details on these recently approved traits, as well as for approvals dating back as far as 1992, can be found on AgbioInvestor’s GM Monitor website.

The Chinese company Wynca has recently received cultivation approvals in China for four new GM events; WYN17132 and WYN04 in maize, and WYN029GmA and WYN341GmC in soybean. WYN17132 provides glyphosate tolerance in maize via expression of the Wynca developed am79epsps gene, while WYN04 combines this herbicide tolerance with lepidopteran insect resistance, utilising the Cry1Ab gene. In soybean, both traits are for glyphosate tolerance, with WYN341GmC possessing the CP4 epsps gene. WYN029GmA utilises the mam79epsps gene. These are the first events developed by Wynca to be identified, and there are no previous instances of these genes having been granted cultivation or import approval in any other country. It is likely that varieties containing these events will only be cultivated in China, with all production aimed at domestic consumption.

A number of genetic events in maize and soybean have been developed for the domestic seed market by Chinese companies or institutions, including Beijing Dabeinong Biotechnology, Beijing Origin Seed, China National Seed Group, Hangzhou Ruifeng Biotechnology, LongPing High-Tech, China Forestry Seed Group, Shandong Shunfeng Biotechnology, Suzhou Qihe Biotechnology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
