Inari, a plant breeding company founded by Flagship Pioneering in 2018, has secured patent licenses for technologies developed at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL). These licenses allow Inari to use CSHL’s Promoter Fine Tuning technology to influence plant architecture and other traits related to agriculture by managing existing genes and the extent of their expression. Inari initially intends to use this method to increase yields in food crops. The technologies licensed by CSHL will reportedly complement plant epigenetics technologies Inari recently licensed from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) (see AgbioNews Feb 13, 2019).
