India to Commercialise High Oleic Groundnut Varieties

India’s coordinated release program has identified two high oleic groundnut varieties to be commercialised, Girnar 4 (ICGV 15083) and Girnar 5 (ICGV 15090). Both varieties have kernel oleic acid content of approximately 80% compared to normal groundnut kernels which have 40 to 50% and would represent the first varieties of this type to be commercialised in the country.
