J.R. Simplot Seeks Deregulation of Snowden Z6 Potato

JUNE 25, 2020

The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has invited public comment on J.R. Simplot’s application for the deregulation extension of its Snowden Z6 potato variety. Snowden Z6 potatoes have been genetically modified for late blight protection, lowered reducing sugars, low acrylamide potential and reduced black spot bruising. APHIS previously reviewed and deregulated these traits in another potato developed by Simplot, referred to as Innate W8 Russet Burbank potato.
