Following the successful completion of field trials, Kenyan authorities have approved the cultivation of genetically modified B.t cotton in the country. In 2018, Kenya announced a stimulus plan aimed at driving growth in the country’s cotton sector (see AgbioNews Jun 4, 2018) which included encouraging the uptake of new cotton hybrids and new technology.
