The Nigerian Government has initiated the process to permit the importation of HB4 wheat, a GM variety developed by Bioceres Crop Solutions. The country has previously approved GM varieties of maize and soybean for food and feed purposes, as well as authorising domestic commercial cultivation of GM varieties of cotton (see AgbioNews Jul 31, 2018) and cowpea (AgbioNews Dec 19, 2019).
