Origin Agritech and NMICC in GM Maize Collaboration

AUGUST 3, 2020

Origin Agritech has entered into a collaboration agreement with the National Maize Improvement Center of China (NMICC) for the development and commercialisation of new GM maize traits. The collaboration will utilise NMICC’s experience in developing new maize varieties, with the institute having already developed 64 hybrids that are currently grown on more than 30 million hectares in China, accounting for approximately 15% of all maize grown in the country.

Origin Agritech recently entered into a similar agreement with the Biotechnology Research Institute (BRI) of the Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences (CAAS) regarding GM soybeans (see AgbioNews Jul 27, 2020).
