PlantArcBio has announced positive results from a US field trial evaluating yield enhancement and drought resistance improvements. The trial, which was conducted in the soybean-producing state of Illinois, showed plants incorporating genes introduced by PlantArcBio reportedly demonstrating a 10% yield increase compared to control plants under both standard and dry conditions. The genes introduced into the plants were discovered using the company’s proprietary gene discovery process designed to improve target traits in plants, with some genes discovered already having final patent approval in the US. PlantArcBio has previously entered into collaborations with Argentinian company Bioceres (see AgbioNews Jun 16, 2021), and the Brazilian Tropical Melhoramento e Genética (TMG) (AgbioNews June 24, 2021).
