Syngenta has announced that a milestone has been reached in its multi-year collaboration with NRGene. Syngenta has successfully completed a one-year trial of GenoMAGIC, evaluating its ability to identify and compare the full genetic makeup of large populations and select the best candidates for efficient breeding. The collaboration has now been expanded following a successful pilot, and Syngenta has chosen NRGene’s GenoMAGIC platform to support its advanced molecular breeding program in maize. In addition, Syngenta will utilise NRGene’s DeNovoMAGIC-3 software to decode the full genomic makeup of several of its elite varieties in key commercial crops, with the intention of expanding the application of genomics in breeding, gene editing, and other genetic research projects.
