US EPA Proposes Approval of BASF’s GMB151 Soybean
MAY 25, 2020
The US EPA has proposed the registration of BASF’s herbicide tolerant and nematode resistant soybean event GMB151. The GMB151 event confers resistance to soybean cyst nematode and Pratylenchus through the Bacillus thuringiensis Cry14Ab-1 protein and provides HPPD herbicide tolerance through a modified 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD-4), derived from Pseudomonas fluorescens. The period for public comment on the application will close on June 5th, 2020.
BASF first applied to the US EPA for the approval of GMB151 soybean in 2019 (see AgbioNews May 21, 2019), and has since also submitted an application for approval to Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) (AgbioNews Apr 17, 2020).
