USDA Deregulates Agrivida’s PY203 Maize

SEPTEMBER 24, 2021

The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has granted deregulation status to Agrivida’s GM maize, which contains the genetic event PY203, for use in food and feed. Maize varieties containing event PY203 have been genetically engineered to produce the enzyme 6-phytase for nutritionally enhanced food and feed use. APHIS invited the public to comment on Agrivida’s application in April last year (see AgbioNews Apr 15, 2020).
