USDA Deregulates Bayer's MON 95379 Maize

SEPTEMBER 29, 2025

The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has granted deregulation status to Bayer's genetically modified insect-resistant MON 95379 maize, with the variety deemed not to pose an increased plant pest risk relative to non-modified varieties. The MON 93579 genetic event provides protection against specific lepidopteran pests, including fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), sugarcane borer (Diatraea saccharalis) and corn earworm (Helicoverpa zea), via expression of Cry1B.868 and Cry1Da_7 genes.
