USDA Deregulates Infinite Enzymes Maize
OCTOBER 24, 2022
The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has granted deregulation status to Infinite Enzymes' genetically engineered maize, as it has been deemed not to pose an increased plant pest risk relative to non-modified varieties. The maize variety has been modified to produce increased peroxidase levels through the embryo-preferred expression of P. chrysosporium manganese peroxidase (MnP), and to confer tolerance to the herbicide glufosinate through maize-optimised phosphinothricin N-acetyltransferase (PAT) from S. viridochromogenes.
