USDA Deregulates J.R. Simplot's BG25 Potato

The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has granted deregulation status to J.R. Simplot’s genetically engineered potato variety, BG25. The company's BG25 potato variety has been developed to provide late blight protection, Potato virus Y (PVY) protection, lowered reducing sugars, and reduced black spot bruising. APHIS deregulated J.R. Simplot's Snowden Z6 Potato in 2021 (see AgbioNews Apr 27, 2021).
