Yield10 Initiates Maize Trait Development Program
Yield10 Biosciences has initiated an early development program to evaluate novel seed yield and drought tolerance traits in maize. Novel traits discovered under the program will be deployed in maize by a third party agriculture company, which is expected to be completed in early 2020. Yield10 also plans to engage another third party to conduct field testing to evaluate the impact of these traits on maize yield. The yield traits in the program are C3003, C3004, and C3011, as well as the transcription factors C4001, C4002, and C4003. C3003 is a gene found in algae which can potentially improve seed yield in oilseed crops, whilst C3004 has potential for enhanced seed yield in Camelina. C3011 is a new trait developed in Yield10’s GRAIN gene discovery platform.
