BASF Launches Nemasphere SCN Trait for Soybean

JUNE 11, 2024

BASF has launched its nematode resistance trait Nemasphere, the first biotechnology trait targeted at controlling soybean cyst nematode (SCN). The trait produces a novel Cry14 protein, which is ingested by the pest and interferes with nutrient uptake in the nematode's intestine, leading to mortality.

Nemasphere is anticipated to be available in 2028, pending regulatory approval. It will be stacked with the Enlist E3 technology and available across a full range of soybean seed varieties.
