EFSA Gives Positive Opinion of Corteva’s DP51291 Maize

DECEMBER 2, 2024

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has reported a positive scientific opinion of Corteva’s genetically modified (GM) insect-resistant and herbicide-tolerant DP51291 maize. The DP51291 event confers control against susceptible corn rootworm pests and tolerance to glufosinate herbicides through the introduction of the ipd072Aa, pmi and mo-pat expression cassettes. The EFSA’s GMO Panel concluded that DP51291 maize is as safe as its conventional counterpart and non-GM maize varieties tested, and no post-market monitoring of food/feed is considered necessary.
