EFSA Publishes Assessment of GM Maize DAS1131

MARCH 21, 2025

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has published its assessment of genetically modified (GM) maize DAS1131, following an application from Corteva Agriscience. The variety has been developed to confer resistance to certain susceptible lepidopteran pests, as well as tolerance to the herbicide glyphosate, with the introduction of the expression cassettes cry1Da2 and dgt-28 epsps. In its assessment, the Panel on Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO Panel) concluded that maize DAS1131 is as safe as its conventional counterpart and the tested non-GM maize varieties with respect to potential effects on human and animal health and the environment.
