GM Monitor – GM Crop Approvals March 2025

MARCH 10, 2025

AgbioInvestor’s free-to-access service AgbioInvestor GM Monitor has identified the following GM trait approvals up to March 2025. Expanded details on these recently approved traits, as well as for approvals dating back as far as 1992, can be found on AgbioInvestor’s GM Monitor website.

The stacked trait soybean MON 87701 x MON 87751 x MON 89788 x MON 94313 x MON 94637, which was originally developed by Monsanto before its acquisition by Bayer, has received cultivation approval in Brazil. The trait stack confers tolerance to five herbicides as well as resistance to specific lepidopteran pests through the various genetic events it contains.

The MON 87701 genetic event produces the insecticidal protein Cry1Ac, the MON 87751 genetic event produces the insecticidal proteins Cry1A.105 and Cry2Ab2, and the MON 94637 genetic event produces the insecticidal protein Cry1A.2 and Cry1B.2, all of which provide resistance to select lepidopteran insect pests. In addition to insect resistant traits the MON 89788 genetic event produces CP4 epsps, which confers tolerance to the herbicide glyphosate, with event MON 94313, containing DMO, ft_t.1, pat, TDO, which confers tolerance to 2,4-D, glufosinate, HPPD (mesotrione) and dicamba.
