NIFA Invests in AFRI Programme

The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), a branch of the USDA, has invested over $14 million in the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative's (AFRI) Plant Breeding and Cultivar Development programs. The funding will enable research aimed at the release of improved crop varieties. AFRI support for breeding includes research on applied quantitative genetics, genetic engineering, modelling, and artificial intelligence for breeding purposes.
