The US FDA has granted a pre-market food safety approval for Beijing Dabeinong Biotechnology’s genetically modified DBN9936 maize. The DBN9936 genetic event provides protection against lepidopteran pests via expression of the Cry1Ab gene, and tolerance to glyphosate through expression of the epsps gene. DBN9936 was approved for cultivation in China in 2019 (see AgbioNews Jan 24, 2020).
