BASF, Corteva and MS Technologies Enter Soybean Trait Licensing Agreement in Brazil
BASF, Corteva, and MS Technologies have entered into a trait licensing agreement to offer a new soybean trait stack to farmers in Brazil. The new trait stack will combine BASF's novel nematode resistant soybean (NRS) trait with Enlist E3 soybeans (tolerance to 2,4-D, glyphosate and glufosinate herbicides) and Conkesta E3 soybeans (tolerance to 2,4-D, glyphosate and glufosinate herbicides, and insect resistance). BASF's NRS trait is reported to represent the first biotechnology-derived solution for the control of root lesion nematodes (Pratylenchus brachyurus) and soybean cyst nematodes. This follows the establishment of a similar agreement between these companies in 2022 focused on the US and Canadian markets (see AgbioNews Jun 29, 2022). The companies anticipate making this new soybean trait stack commercially available to Brazilian growers by the end of this decade or early next decade, with launch in additional countries remaining a possibility.
