Mexico is expected to continue with the 2024 ban on GM maize, without amendments, following recent reports that the country was considering direct agreements with growers in the USA, Argentina and Brazil to secure non-GM imports of yellow maize. Mexico has reportedly stated that the country is ready to halve imports of US-originated yellow maize when the ban comes into effect and make up the shortfall by increasing its domestic production.
