Argentina Approves Two GM Maize Traits
JUNE 28, 2024
Argentina has approved the commercialisation of Corteva's GM maize event DP202216. Maize varieties containing event DP202216 have been genetically modified to increase and extend the expression of the zmm28 gene, reportedly resulting in maize with enhanced grain yield potential in addition to tolerance to the herbicide glufosinate through the expression of the phosphinothricin N-acetyltransferase (pat) gene. Argentina has also approved the commercialisation of the stacked maize event DAS40278 x DP202216 x NK603, which confers resistance to the herbicides glufosinate, glyphosate, and 2,4-D.
