Bayer Announces Preceon Smart Corn System in the US

MARCH 9, 2023

Bayer has announced its Preceon Smart Corn System. The system comprises three main components: short-stature maize hybrids; FieldView digital insights; and tailored support throughout the growing period. The short-stature maize is intended to provide growers with enhanced protection against weather-related field issues such as lodging and greensap, and enable better access to the crop for spraying and applications, while growers can use the FieldView digital platform to generate prescriptive variable seeding rates by uploading key metrics such as field location.

Bayer is expanding field trials of the system in 2023 to over 30,000 acres (approximately 12,000 hectares) in preparation for commercial launch in the US, which is targeted for 2024, and intends to launch the system globally in the following years.
