Bayer Launches ThryvOn Cotton Trait in the US

FEBRUARY 8, 2023

Bayer has commercialised its ThryvOn cotton technology in the USA in time for the 2023 season, with the trait being utilised in cotton varieties stacked with Bollgard 3 XtendFlex. ThryvOn varieties utilise the MON 88702 genetic event to produce a modified Cry51Aa2 insecticidal crystal protein derived from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) that protects against feeding damage caused by tarnished plant bugs (Lygus hesperus and Lygus lineolaris) and thrips (Frankliniella spp.). ThryvOn Technology represents the first commercialised trait in the cotton industry specifically designed to protect the crop from these sucking pests.
