Bayer Crop Science has received registration for its VT4PRO maize seed product in Eastern Canada.  VT4PRO combines the company’s Trecepta technology (MON 89034 x MIR 162) with the genetic events MON 87411. Trecepta controls select above-ground lepidopteran insect pests, while the MON 87411 genetic event provides control of corn rootworm through the expression of DvSnf7 dsRNA, a novel RNAi-based mode of action, as well as production of the insecticidal protein Cry3Bb1. Glyphosate herbicide tolerance is also present.

VT4PRO will be available for the 2025 growing season across Eastern Canada. The product received approval from the US EPA in 2022 (see AgbioNews Mar 3, 2022).
