China is expanding the pilot planting of GM maize and soybeans, with the intention of accelerating the commercialisation of biological breeding, according to reports. The GM maize and soybean pilot areas, which were first planted in 2021, has since expanded to 20 counties in five provincial-level regions, including Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Sichuan and Yunnan, will be expanded to Northwest China's Gansu Province.
