The Netherlands Commission on Genetic Modification (COGEM) has advised that a second renewal of the authorisation for import and processing for use in feed and food (including pollen) of Bayer's GM maize MON810 is granted. The MON810 trait, which expresses the cry1Ab gene resulting in resistance to certain lepidopteran pests, has not been deemed to pose a risk to the environment.
