Collaborators to Invest in Citrus R&D Centre in Brazil

Fundecitrus (Fundo de Defesa da Citricultura), Fapesp (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo), and Esalq (Escola Superior de Agricultura Luiz de Queiroz) have jointly established the Centre for Applied Research in Innovation and Sustainability of Citriculture in São Paulo, Brazil. The centre will receive approximately R$200 million (approximately $32.9 million) in funding over the next five years to support research into key citrus diseases, including Citrus variegated chlorosis (CVC), or citrus yellowing, Citrus sudden death, and Citrus greening, or Huanglongbing (HLB).
