DBN Receives Brazilian Cultivation Approval for GM HT Soybean

NOVEMBER 30, 2023

China’s Beijing Dabeinong Technology Group (DBN) has received cultivation approval for its genetically modified herbicide tolerant soybeans in Brazil. These soybeans contain the genetic event DBN9004, which confers tolerance to the herbicides glyphosate and glufosinate via the expression of CP4 EPSPS (glyphosate tolerance) and pat (glufosinate tolerance) genes. The technology was patented in 2016 in China and gained an international patent in 2017. The deregulation process is also reportedly underway in Uruguay (see AgbioNews Aug 31, 2018). DBN’s GM insect resistant soybean genetic events DBN8002 and DBN8002 x DBN9004 have previously received cultivation approval in Argentina in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
