EU Approves and Renews GM Crops for Food and Feed Uses
MARCH 19, 2024
The European Commission has authorised the use of Syngenta's genetically modified (GM) herbicide-tolerant and insect-resistant maize Bt11 x Event 5307 x GA21 x MIR162 x MIR604 x MON 89034, and 30 different sub-combinations, for food and feed uses. In addition, the commission has renewed the authorisations of BASF's herbicide-tolerant oilseed rape varieties MS8, RF3 and MS8 × RF3, also for food and feed uses. These approvals do not allow the cultivation of these crops in the EU, but only their imports into the EU from third- countries.
