The Argentinian plant genetics company GDM has applied for registration in South Africa of 13 soybean varieties, after the country approved the use of a new GM seed technology. Each of the 13 varieties that GDM plans to register in South Africa feature Bayer's Intacta RR2 PRO GM seed technology, which contains glyphosate-tolerant Roundup Ready 2 Yield trait, and a B.t. trait to provide insect resistance. It is expected that 3 of the 13 varieties will be pre-launched in 2023, in line with GDM's strategy to increase its South African business.
