APRIL 22, 2025
The Punjab government is to provide a 33% subsidy on hybrid insect resistant cotton seeds recommended by the Punjab Agricultural University in an effort to promote crop diversification. A total of ₹200 million (approximately $2.3 million) has been allocated for this initiative, which aims to reduce the financial burden on cotton farmers, discourage the use of non-recommended hybrids, and expand the cotton area in the state to 125,000 hectares.
